Kurdish Unified Keyboard Layout

KAL is introducing a standard QWERTY keyboard layout which is by far the most widespread layout in the world. All thought you do not need to create any Keyboard to be able to write in Kurdish unified alphabet, KAL has created this installable keyboard which you can download and install on your computer. Since Kurdish is not defined among  the languages on Windows OS or MAC OS, KAL has modified a Swedish keyboard to create the Kurdish Standard keyboard layout which is accepted by Windows OS (any version Win 2000, XP, VISTA, Win 64). Please note that any text written by Kurdish Unified Alphabet will be readable on any platforms.

How to install the Kurdish Unified keyboard

  1. Download the attached ku-latn.zip file
  2. Unpack the .zip file and double click on setup.exe (You might be alerted to install .Net Framework as requirement if you do not have this on you system already. Please download this from Microsoft.com web site)
  3. You will see a Keyboard system added to your platform. You will see this on the bottom right side of your screen. For more information on this process please see Microsoft Website.
  4. Please note if you have already a Swedish keyboard on your system, the new installation will add only another keyboard layout by name "Kurdish Unified Keyboard" to your system. This means your Swedish language default system will have two keyboard side by side. You will need to select the "Kurdish Unified Keyboard" when your write in Kurdish.
  5. After installation you will have the "Kurdish Unified Keyboard" on your system with the following layouts.
